Dr. Christian Gonzalez, director of GERO, Chile recently was awarded with an international cooperation grant with the Institute Pasteur in Paris to study transynaptic transmission of tau and mechanisms of pathologic spreading in neurodegeneration. It is a grant for three years lead by Christian Gonzalez-Billault (Chile) and Chiara Zurzolo (France). The project will study the molecular mechanisms that regulates tau spreading in mice brain, with a focus in trans-synaptic transmission. This effort is a collaboration between his group and the group lead by Chiara Zurzolo at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. He anticipates that results derived form this grant may impact on the basic biology of tau but also offers some interesting therapeutic opportunities.
Congratulations!!
